How close are we to Fall? About three weeks officially, but in our desert that could be another 6 to 8 weeks in reality. That’s not close enough. The thermometer is still hovering near 100°!! Who wants to gather wood and Bottle Tomatoes when the weather is so warm? It all needs to be done, but my enthusiasm is slow to catch up.
There are copper lights in our new Rustic Ranch collection that need texture and color applied.
This is the way Mike creates those warm Fall colors in copper:This is how he starts his summer mornings, and I would really like for the temps to be cooler for him.
There are projects to be started, like these glass samples that will be kiln fired to create jewelry for a natural stone look in pendant necklaces. Or maybe they’ll be recreated in a larger version to shape into a bowl for the Holidays. But the garage is measuring over 100 °, so that will have to wait. (I lament this every August . . . )
Even the dogs and critters are fed up with summer heat. They lay around all day, and then, just when we sit down to relax in the evening, they’re full of energy and want to play.
But I need to remember that so many of you are buried under in winter weather for so much longer than I have to endure the heat. I’ve heard from some of you that your leaves are already changing to reds, and you haven’t even felt your full Summer this year. I wish we could share 50/50. I guess that’s just human nature; to always be anticipating the next season- of nature, of life, of experiences. And I have to remind myself to enjoy today and all it brings.
Are you anxious for the weather to change where you are? Or are you still enjoying Summer’s glory and long days? Please share with us in the comments. It helps me remember to treasure where we are.
Thanks.
